Considerations
LaFlamme,
Barron & Chabot understands that you want and are entitled
to an up-front discussion of legal fees.
The free initial consultation
will include an assessment of the client's legal problem along
with initial advice about how to handle that problem along with
a long range plan as appropriate. The following are specific
types of fee arrangements that LaFlamme, Barron & Chabot
offers:
- THE HOURLY FEE ARRANGEMENT:
Under this arrangement, the client is given an estimate of the
hours that will be involved in the handling of the case and will
be billed on a monthly basis. Depending on the complexity of
the matter, the hourly fees of LaFlamme, Barron & Chabot
range from $100.00 to $450.00 per hour. Under this arrangement,
the client would be responsible for any expenses that are attributable
to the case. Most cases will require a retainer to be applied
to expenses or future charges.

- CONTINGENT FEE ARRANGEMENT:
This is an arrangement used in personal injury actions. Contingent
fee arrangements are not allowed in criminal or divorce cases.
Under this arrangement, the lawyer receives no fee unless money
is recovered for the client. In most personal injury actions,
the Contingent Fee at LaFlamme, Barron & Chabot is 33 1/3%.
However, that fee may vary depending upon the complexity of the
matter and likelihood of success. The client is responsible for
the expenses involved in prosecuting the case such as filing
fees, expert fees and depositions.

- FLAT FEE ARRANGEMENT:
Typically used in criminal defense matters and preparation of
wills. At LaFlamme, Barron & Chabot, the flat fee arrangement
is fully explained to the client before representation is undertaken.
